Can you tell it’s summer? I haven’t posted in far too long. It is summer camp season and I’ve been having some great times with High School and Junior High students all over Ohio. But, that’s no excuse to get lazy, so here’s the recap from this week:
This was only the second week for Pastor Scott so we are still feeling each other out when it comes to general worship flow. We still have some work to do on our non-verbal system for communication. I figure we’ll be able to read each other really well right about the time I leave and someone completely new comes on staff and they’ll have to go through the entire process again. No real problems because of this, simply a few extra moments of dead space before the sermon and a long transition into the benediction. Music ran surprisingly well this week. I say that because I was out at camp all week and missed our mid-week rehearsal. Gabe, our other worship leader, usually takes these weeks but he was unavailable for Sunday so we tag teamed this week. He ran rehearsal on Wednesday and I led Sunday. It isn’t a perfect system but necessity usually wins out and we really needed a rehearsal this week after having canceled several in the past few months. Sunday morning run through was interesting because usually I’m the one who walks through every detail of the service, but because I had missed Wednesday it felt more like I was completely clueless and the band had to fill me in on what they knew. However because they were familiar songs we made it through alright. Here’s the set:
Jesus Messiah (G)
New Doxology (G)
From the Inside Out (Bb)
We’re kind of in a “play what we know” phase right now. This has been due to a few reasons one major one being our rehearsal time. Scheduling musicians has been very difficult in the summer months and our rehearsal schedule has been affected because of it leaving little time to work on new material. We’re also in a holding pattern while we discuss the overall direction for the service as we adjust to our pastoral transition and as we prepare for someone else to come in and take over my responsibilities
That’s all I’ve got for this week. This is the 52nd week for Sunday Set Lists, and next week is the one year anniversary celebration so make sure you check it out.
