Worship Recap – Jan. 31st, 2010

There are three things that hold true about this morning.

#1 – Technology fights us every Sunday. There is always something going on behind the scenes. Most Sundays we are able to push through and sweep these issues under the rug.

#2 – This was not one of those Sundays. The technology issues we fought this morning were glaring and there was no way to avoid being upfront with the congregation about what was really going on.

#3 – In the midst of it all, God was glorified.

90% of issues with audio and video equipment go unnoticed to your average person and you can push through without drawing any attention to it. However, it’s important to know when you just have to step back and own up to something that’s going on behind the scenes, and even make light of the situation. Despite all the goings on here’s the set we managed to crank out:

Let God Arise (Chris Tomlin)

Bless Your Name (Eddie Kirkland)

Help Me to Find You (Todd Fields)

By the way, if you don’t have North Points newest live album “Awake” make sure you check it out.

As always , you can head over to Fred McKinnon’s place for more #sundaysetlists fun.

Yeah, that North Point album is good, at least 4 or 5 songs Sunday-worthy. If I were reviewing, I’d point out that it’s only downside is that the variety isn’t as great as I’d prefer, with at least one or two of the songs sounding a lot like Glory To God Forever, which is already on the CD. But yes, Bless Your Name is definitely one on my list, as well as God Is Alive and a few others.

I fully agree that the record is lacking some of the variety their previous albums have had. Bless Your Name is brand new for us. This was week 2 with it so we’ll give it a few more passes but it seems to be catching. Another one we’ve had good luck with has been “Love Has Come” off of Todd Fields newest album.
